Exquisitely Intimate Wedding in Georgia | Courtney + Mark
Perhaps it’s the personally written (tear-jerking!) vows or the elephants they spotted on their honeymoon to Thailand…all I can say Courtney and Mark’s has one of the most exquisite Georgia wedding videos ever. The WeddingMix team is so honored to have helped create their special video memento.

Mark and I began our story in a non-traditional way. We both were new to online dating, and neither of us had ever met anyone from online in person. I was incredibly nervous, but agreed to meet him on the outdoor patio of a local restaurant. From the moment we sat down, the conversation never stopped. A short “dinner and drinks” meeting turned into an almost three-hour long dinner filled with laughter and endless flirting. Two wonderful years later, I found myself saying “yes!!” as Mark asked me to marry him at my favorite Atlanta restaurant.
Just as the way we met was non-traditional, Mark and I wanted a wedding that reflected us rather than following standard wedding traditions. We searched for (and found) a venue that would give our guests a taste of the city we live in and love. We wanted an October wedding that steered clear of the usual fall themes and rustic colors, which is not our style. Instead, we chose a sophisticated palette of soft gray, cream, and hints of muted yellow.
The flowers were displayed in both mercury and milk glass vases, accented with white pumpkins and romantic candlelight. My best friend, who custom designed our wedding invitations, put a modern spin on a traditional double wedding ring quilting pattern, which is a motif of two interlocking rings that signify unbreakable love. We loved the meaning behind this, and incorporated this pattern into our invitations, welcome bags, and other décor.
While we have many loving friends we could have easily asked to be groomsmen or bridesmaids, we decided on an intimate ceremony of just the two of us. We asked a close friend to perform the ceremony, which Mark and I wrote together. Some of our best friends read passages that reflected our personalities and love for each other. As we read our own vows to each other, our wedding bands were passed among our guests to be blessed with their love and well wishes- something we felt was truly special!
After an outdoor cocktail hour in the courtyard, the reception kicked off with our first dance to The Avett Brothers’ Living of Love. The rest of the night was filled with amazing food, bourbon (our signature cocktail), and hours of dancing. Mark and I built our unique photo booth ourselves, and it was an immediate hit with our guests!
Another huge success was our cake bar. Rather than a traditional wedding cake, we chose 7 round cakes in different flavors, displayed on vintage milk glass stands I had collected. We kept the party simple, staying away from multiple toasts, games, bouquet/garter tosses. We wanted our time to be spent on what mattered most to us: sharing our vows with our family and friends and then dancing the night away!
Our wedding was everything we hoped for, and our guests truly loved helping us capture it through WeddingMix. It’s been so fun to watch our day through their eyes, and we loved being able to add video from our honeymoon in Thailand. It’s a gift we’ll always treasure!
