Our ceremony was under the massive oak trees and our reception was in a beautiful white tent decorated with twinkle lights, candles, and flowers right next to the ocean.
We live in Chicago our family is all over North America (Ohio, Washington, Virginia, and Canada) so everyone kept asking, “why Georgia?” But, once they arrived, they immediately saw how beautiful and unique The Beachview Club truly was.
Jekyll Island is a special place for us because Mark had taken me there for a surprise birthday weekend. Once we were engaged and thinking about locations for the wedding, we just knew that Jekyll would be the perfect spot. It offers the gorgeous beach views and Florida-like weather along with a wonderfully slow pace and plenty of Southern charm.
We were proud of our wedding planning choices and that we stayed true to our vision of what our wedding day would be like. We also chose amazing vendors; they took our idea and ran with it and on the day of, everything came together perfectly. The day was calm, everything went according to schedule, and we were able to truly enjoy the time with each other. Our family and friends were raving about how wonderful and fun our wedding was, which was evident when, to our surprise, cocktail hour at 5:30 pm turned into the beginning of an epic dance party.
Why was WeddingMix appealing for your Beachview Club wedding video ?
When we started planning our wedding, the biggest regret you read about from other couples is not capturing the day on video. But, when I saw the quotes come back from videographers, we were shocked by the prices and definitely not interested in paying thousands of dollars. Then we heard about WeddingMix and it seemed like the perfect solution for us.
It worked out really well and I am telling all of our engaged friends to use WeddingMix. We absolutely love the footage that was captured by our family and friends. It is real and imperfect, in the most perfect way.
WeddingMix made it very easy for our friends and family to help capture our day. We ordered two cameras and assigned friends to be our videographers. They had a blast doing it and were absolutely hilarious to watch. It also made it very easy to have the one hashtag for WeddingMix and social media uploads from our guests.
What special moments do you want to remember forever?
The day was made up of a million special moments that we want to remember forever. We really wanted to make the day all about us and our family and friends and so we decided not to have a best man or maid of honor. Each person in our bridal party had a special role. In addition, my Dad walked me down the aisle, my Stepdad married us, and Mark’s Dad gave the big welcome toast.
We decided to wait until the ceremony to see each other, against everyone’s best planning advise, and it was so exciting and special for us to see each other for the first time that day when my Dad was walking me down the aisle.
There was a mix-up with the DJ and he announced the last dance early and played the wrong song, but it turned out to be an awesome moment. Everyone circled around us and belted out the words as we danced to “I’ve Had the Time of My Life.” We couldn’t have planned it, but it was perfect!
Before we ran off to the Honeymoon Suite, we decided to have our last dance at the reception by ourselves while everyone was prepping for the sparkler exit. We danced to “You & Me” by Dave Matthews and in that moment, the emotions of the day overwhelmed both of us. It was a quiet, personal moment that ended our reception on the most wonderful note.
Any important post wedding advice to share?
Do what you want to do! There is so much pressure surrounding weddings and the best thing you can do is decide what would make you the most happy and just go for it together. Also, decide early on what your priorities are and it will help significantly as decisions need to be made. For example, we knew that we didn’t want to invest a lot of money on decorations since it was a destination beachview club wedding, so we spent more on our venue because it was practically perfect as is.
