Real Storymix Bride and Half Marathon Runner: Amy Kamath
Please welcome Storymix blogger bride Amy as she regales us with tales of her unexpected journey to marathons and marital bliss.
Growing up, there were two things I was very certain of: 1) I hate running. The only reason to run is if you are being chased and no one is after me. 2) I never wanted to live “up north.” I love the South. The winters are mild and in the summer, swimming pools feel like bath tubs. I like that. So, imagine my surprise when Paul and I got engaged at the finish line of my first half marathon in Cleveland. Oh, the places life takes us…
My family lives in Texas and Paul’s family is from Pennsylvania, so we decided the best decision for us would be to get married in Cleveland. After researching the area, Paul found Josaphat Arts Hall, and old Roman Catholic church turned art gallery. One look at it and we were hooked. It was a perfect mix of artsy and tradition. It was a gorgeous setting for the most magical day of our lives.
We got married on Cinco de Mayo. Maybe I’m biased, but I think it was the most perfect day that Cleveland has seen this year. As a nod to Mexican Independence, we had a margarita machine. Our friends, the perpetual entertainers, even decided to surprise us with a Mexican hat dance, which, thankfully, was caught on tape by a guest using the StoryMix app!
When we thought about our wedding, there were two main reasons we chose to use StoryMix. StoryMix was a perfect, budget friendly way to create a wedding memento. We definitely wanted to have footage of our wedding, but we didn’t want to go over board on the cost. Second, we very much wanted our wedding to be an intimate affair. We wanted to be able to enjoy our family and friends as much as possible. My worry was that having a videographer might feel intrustive. With StoryMix, your friends are your videographers. Best of both worlds!
