The Making of a Wedding | Setup to Last Dance

Today we are joined by Charlotte Event Designer Katie Dowens from The Charmed Event. Katie used our WeddingMix 1 camera package to capture the entire setup of a wedding – a DIY promo video for an event planner. She filmed all the scenes herself and directed the movie using our storyboard. We then edited her finished promo video.

We were really excited to have the ability to show brides and their families the work behind the scenes of one of our weddings! Adding video to our marketing efforts has also been a recent project for us. This wedding was selected because we felt we could fully show a blank canvas turning into a gorgeous reception, the vendors were all top notch and worked well together.

The footage we wanted to capture was the building of overall reception design. We began shooting when lighting and florals were being just installed, but not much else had been completed. Ladders, buckets, boxes – it was a mess in the venue. This is exactly what we wanted to show. As elements neared completion, we captured the progress. Details are important to our clients, so as the set up drew to and end we then focused on footage of those details – place settings, centerpieces, cake, favors, etc. We looked at it like a photographer would, taking our time to showcase the elements and how they came together.

The fun of the evening was important to capture as well – that’s the point of all the hard work!! Getting the footage did not add at all to our workload for the day, it was quite fun!
