Jungle Riviera Maya Wedding in Mexico| Lori + Eric
Now THIS is how make a beautiful mix of jungle and beach! Lori and Eric were married at the Occidental Grand XCaret Resort in the Riviera Maya, Mexico. Their family and friends flew from both sides of the coasts to participate in a ceremony awash with natural themes, peaceful unity, and two souls coming together as one. This is one of the most stunning Riviera Maya weddings we’ve ever seen — See all the fun, fashion and festivities in the couple’s guest-filmed WeddingMix video.
I started planning the wedding six months before the date. I made all of the decisions in the first two months, and then promptly forgot everything. It was wonderful because everything I experienced on the day of the wedding was a beautiful surprise. I didn’t plan for that, but I’m so happy it worked out that way.
The wedding was a fusion of everything we love. The Mayan ceremony honored nature, our ancestors, our place in the world as beings connected to each other and solidified our union in a way that represented all of our values. My husband wore what he loved and felt most comfortable in and I chose the Indian saree, to honor a culture and fashion that I love, respect and made me feel beautiful and powerful.
As for special wedding moments — OMG! I want to remember how it felt to get ready with my closest family and my husband-to-be the next room over. I want to remember the security I felt clasping my husband-to-be’s hand as we walked down the aisle together, the sense of rightness I felt about the man of my choosing and the power of the ceremony we chose. I also want to remember us dancing the whole night surrounded by love, brimming with joy and finally so tired we begged the staff to stop playing music, so we could go.
I found traditional videography an expensive option that I had originally planned to forego. From the moment I got engaged though, I entered every wedding contest I could find. Through this, I won a ‘discounted package’ from a WeddingMix competitor. This was how I learned of the guest-created video option. I loved the idea and did my research and found that WeddingMix not only offered better packages than others, but they also offered a better rate than the discount I had won. After a phone call with WeddingMix to answer logistical and legal questions, it was a no-brainer to move forward.
Our wedding is all on tape and our family helped to capture what mattered most. Even those who didn’t have WeddingMix cameras were able to contribute to our final video. In fact, some of those were the most memorable moments caught. My official camera holders had marching orders of what to get and when, but family and friends had the freedom to get the good stuff. And, they did.
Our wedding was so much fun. We’ve decided we’re going to do it again! Every time we visit a new country, we’ll get married in that culture. Can’t wait and that means more videos so get to re-live the joy.
