Unforgettable Kingston, MA Wedding | Beth + Paul
Beth and Paul’s Kingston, MA wedding video showcases all the love and well-wishes from the couple’s loved ones – so cute! The cute pair had their friends and family use the WeddingMix app to help them capture all of their special wedding moments.
Wedding details from beautiful bride, Beth:
For Paul and myself, I would have to say we are most proud of all of the DIY that went into our wedding. I remember getting engaged in November of 2013, finding the venue in December, and then starting DIY projects as soon as 2014 rolled around (I was painting and distressing mason jars during the 2014 Winter Olympic Games!). We knew what kind of atmosphere we wanted to create and it was important for us to infuse our family and our own homegrown roots into every detail and decoration.
We grew up together and graduated high school together, so our ceremony backdrop was made of real front doors from homes and included the house numbers that we grew up in. Paul and his grandfather made our “guest bench” for everyone to sign, aunts and grandparents embroidered the “hankies for happy tears”; we even made it a family affair to make our very own set of marquee lights for the reception. From the large projects, right down to the table numbers (that were numbered based on our grade school class photos) Paul and I made everything. I even spent months making my own bouquet out of brooches from family members so everyone would be walking down the aisle with me in spirit.
Paul and I were married at The Jones River Trading Post in Kingston, MA. It is a beautiful mill that was converted into a reception hall. It was such a unique venue with eclectic and kitchy touches, we knew immediately it was the place for us. We wanted our guests to have an experience in itself just from walking around the venue, taking in the views, and all of the antiques incorporated in the décor. We both also grew up down the street from the Sanford Mills back in our hometown, so it was a way for us to pay homage to the place we both grew up in.
When we got engaged, we thought we were prepared to take on the cost of getting married, but I don’t think anyone with a budget can truly be prepared for the time and money that goes into wedding planning. We saved for a year and allocated most of our budget to the things that would make our guests feel comfortable and taken care of. When everything was laid out, we knew in our hearts that a videographer was not in the cards for us. At first, we didn’t think much of having video from our wedding. We thought pictures would be enough to remember our special day, until a very wise relative explained that not having any video would be a lifelong regret. We were so caught up in the wedding planning process that we didn’t stop to think about wanting to share my father’s welcome speech with his future grandchildren someday, or replaying our first dance for a few laughs with family during the holidays. We did some research online for alternatives and came across a plethora of articles and websites about renting handheld video cameras at a fraction of what a videographer would cost us. Now came the hard part of comparing different companies for the best quality and budget friendly option.
I came across Weddingmix by Storymix Media after reading a few articles about the newest trend of taking candid footage at weddings. I emailed their customer service to inquire about the services they offered and equipment they rented out. I went back and forth with customer service a few times via email, until I realized I was communicating with one of the owners! At that moment, I was sold. Any owner who cares enough about their business to directly answer customer service questions must really care about their business and about their customers.
We passed out cameras to attendants in our bridal party and a few guests and they went to work during our ceremony and reception. The guests caught on quick to how the cameras worked (the instruction booklets attached to the cameras definitely came in handy!) and they took lots of footage AND pictures!
My 11 year old cousin Vinnie spent the entire night interviewing guests and asking if they had any advice for the newlyweds. I am eternally grateful for all the footage he took. I wanted to remember the moments before the ceremony took place, where anticipation is high and everyone is caught up in the excitement. I also wanted to remember our first dance and the speeches that were made by my Matron of Honor, the Best Men, and most importantly, my father. He really knocked his welcome speech out of the park! My parent’s 40th wedding anniversary was a few months prior and they didn’t celebrate because of all the wedding planning. I surprised them with a special wedding anniversary cake and played their wedding song to dance to. They didn’t have a videographer at their wedding back in 1974 so I was able to give them a ‘do over and recapture those moments for them thanks to Weddingmix by Storymix Media!
If I had to describe my wedding in one word, I would say it was ‘unforgettable! Each and every guest felt special that day because of the work we put into every decoration and detail. It wasn’t just a celebration of marriage, it turned into a celebration of family and friends…and we made sure to celebrate all night long! And thanks to Weddingmix by Story mix media, so many moments of our wedding will literally be unforgettable now!
