Anna + Brad | My Gorgeous Greek Wedding in Sterling Heights Michigan

Today we’re joined by gorgeous bride Anna S. from Michigan. She worked with her amazing DJ, Craig of Black Tie Productions, to capture all the details of her greek wedding in a video from Storymix.

My ceremony was held at St. John Greek Orthodox Church in Sterling Heights, Michigan. My reception was held at the Italian American Cultural Society in Clinton Township, Michigan. We were married on September 1, 2012. Couldn’t have asked for a beautiful day!

Being 100% Greek, it was important for the Marriage Ceremony to be captured on video – it is a truly beautiful ceremony filled with culture and rituals. Also, the first Greek Dance – “The Nyfiko Dance” was important to be captured. This is where the whole bridal party and families do the traditional Kalamatiano Dance – celebrating the Bride and Groom.

I had so much fun planning our wedding. We were engaged on February 9, 2012 and the planning began the next day.. J We managed to get married within 6.5 months! At first it was a little stressful trying to coordinate a hall, church, and the band with a date. But once those three areas were covered, the rest was easy to plan. I won’t lie and say we didn’t get overwhelmed at times, but it is all worth it. The one thing that I learned throughout this whole process is that enjoy yourself with your fiancé. You will never get this time back. Brad and I had fun from registering, to picking out our cake, meeting with our photographer, and planning the details of our reception with Rachel at the IACS. Everything turned out the way we expected and even better. Our families and friends made our day so wonderful for us! It is truly one of the best days of your life!

My recommendation to future bride and grooms out there is that enjoy your wedding day from the start to the end – I’ve heard from many that the day flies by – they are so right! Our day went by so fast and we remember bits and pieces from our wedding because you are so overwhelmed with everything about the day. I thank my sister Genie and brother in law George for giving us an awesome wedding gift with the Story Mix Video Cameras. The Bridal Party and our friends and family were able to capture moments of the day that we will have forever!
