What part of your wedding planning are you most proud of?
How organized we were from the get-go. We had everything done and waiting in labelled boxes and folders for about two weeks prior to the wedding. The checklist was our friend and motivator.
Where did you get married?
We were married at the Mass Audubon Habitat in Belmont, Massachusetts, which is right outside of Boston. The grounds were gorgeous and really made you feel far away from the city, and offset nicely our geek chic theme.
Why was WeddingMix appealing for your big day?
We have a lot of artistic friends and family, and we were already planning on having an unplugged ceremony (meaning, guests are politely asked to be in the moment with us and not use their cell phones or cameras), so designating two teenage camera-savvy cousins to film the ceremony seemed ideal while our professional photography got the still shots.
Having the WeddingMix app option really allowed our guests the freedom to record at-will and feel a part of our wedding. After all, a wedding isn’t just the union of two people, it’s the union of two families, biological or chosen.
What special moments from your wedding do you want to remember forever?
Just about everything, but in particular our vows- I know Justin’s were far better than mine- and my sister’s Maid of Honor Toast. She is a high school teacher and her sarcastic wit was on point. Also, our first dance was very special-we had taken dance lessons for months to get it looking polished and really had fun with it. There may also be footage of a spontaneous lightsaber fight in there. I’ll never forget how everyone stopped what they were doing and cheered us on as we play-fought. Our little flower girl kept shouting at Justin, “Let Becky win!” And I did win, though he didn’t “let” me, haha.
How did WeddingMix help capture those moments?
After we informed everyone (or attempted to, we had signage about it on the website, on our guest table, and in the programs), knowing that anyone with a camera could capture all of the moments (and MORE!) helped with our peace of mind.
Professionals can do their best to capture all of the moments, but being one or two people, they can’t capture EVERYTHING. The WeddingMix concept really gets you close to being able to capture everything!
