What part of your wedding planning are you most proud?
Honestly, I left the plan for the ceremony, reception and decorations up to the wonderful ladies at the Terrace Club venue. My challenge was coordinating the entire bridal party for the bachelor and bachelorette parties, rehearsal and rehearsal dinner, Bridesmaid Fun Run, Bridal Brunch and wedding day!
The part I am most proud of is the time table I created for the entire wedding weekend. We had so many people flying in from so far, including California, New York, Washington and even Japan, so we had to pack as much fun in to the four days as possible. I had packets ready at the hotel frost desk for everyone in the family and bridal party that included a spreadsheet with times and places everyone needed to be. I even had a phone tree in the packet just in case of an emergency.
Giving everyone a physical time table to refer to meant that I didn’t have to answer a million questions about who needed to be where and when. That time table was a saving grace because everyone was on time and ready to go for every occasion we had going on that weekend. Ā
What special moments from your destination wedding in Texas do you want to remember forever?
Dancing with my husband, Aaron, was an incredibly special moment for me. We decided to dance to a not-so-traditional song because it fit our fun loving personalities best, and it was such a blast. Another great moment was the second dance when I danced with his father and he danced with my mother, which was a moment for us to share with our new “parents.”
Aaron and I both agree that the best part of the wedding was getting to spend time with our bridal party (all 16 of them!). We knew that this particular group of people, the friends and loved ones we hold so dear, would never again be in the same place at the same time, so we made the most of it. The bridesmaids and I ran a fun run in Austin on the morning of the wedding, the groomsmen went to breweries, we all took a party bus together for the bachelorette and bachelor parties, and we all had an amazing time during the whole day of “wedding” events.
How did WeddingMix help capture moments from your big day?
WeddingMix was great because we were all able to download the app before we arrived for the wedding weekend, so everyone captured different moments from their journey to the wedding. Also, I loved the idea of having the wedding events be captured by everyone else’s personal point of view!
So many people got creative with what they decided to record. The bridesmaids and I were rarely doing the same activities as the groomsmen and Aaron, but we were able to share our experiences with each other because everyone captured photos or video of the fun things we did. During the wedding, we had a friend volunteer to use the Flip camera to capture the ceremony, another friend made sure to capture the audio, and the other Flip camera was passed around to all of the guests to get individual messages and moments.
The WeddingMix app made it possible for us to capture moments that happened throughout the entire weekend, rather than just the ceremony and reception. We recorded videos from the bachelorette party, the rehearsal dinner, the bridesmaids and groomsmen getting ready separately, and captured moments from different points of view during the actual wedding. We printed the instructions and our WeddingMix code on the wedding programs so everyone was able to download it prior to the ceremony. The end result was fantastic! So many moments captured that would have been impossible for one videographer to get.
…And the best part about the destination wedding weekend?
As I said earlier, Aaron and I most enjoyed having the friends we have had for years and years just blend together in to this awesome, supportive, loving group. Our families were absolutely fantastic and so excited for us. Everyone was incredibly supportive of the many events we decided to cram in to the weekend, including a Jimmy Fallon style “Lip-Sync-Off”, a 2 mile fun run at 7am the morning of the wedding, a fantastic Bridal Brunch and Rehearsal Dinner, and hours of photography and preparation. Our guests were the most amazing dancers, as evidenced by our wedding video. I don’t think the dance floor was empty the entire night! It was such an amazing event and perfect blending of two worlds. Everyone in attendance was family and the night was beautiful. Ā
