We got married in Gettysburg, PA at the gorgeous Battlefield Bed and Breakfast. The B&B housed most of our bridal party and family which was great, and the barn had an awesome historic background that our out-of-town guests absolutely loved. Gettysburg is such a touristy town and our guests enjoyed many of the amenities that tourists look forward to on vacation, but also got to be a part of a great wedding!
The part of our wedding planning that we are most proud of would have to be the fact that we kept it simple! I am not at all a flower person and we decided to use artificial flowers for the bouquets (which I didn’t want), center pieces, boutonniere’s, etc. We borrowed a lot of decorations from our brother and sister-in-law but used them in a way to keep them different from their wedding. It was sweet family tradition.
Our favorite moments of the wedding will always be our dance to Olly Murs, “Dance With Me Tonight!” My husband and I are goofy, fun-loving people and knew that having 100 people stare at us while we slow-danced around a barn would be totally awkward for us. Instead we choreographed (yes that’s right-him and I) a dance the month before the wedding, practicing at least once/twice every night! Our guests were so surprised and totally loved how fun the dance was. More importantly, our groomsmen were shocked my husband had moves, haha!
How their Barn Wedding in Gettysburg turned into their totally personalized + fun wedding video!
I had gone back and forth about getting a videographer for our wedding. We were very much trying to keep the cost down but I had been watching a ridiculous amount of wedding trailers, crying at many of them (and not knowing anyone in the video itself) and realizing how special it would be to capture those moments in a different way.
After deciding that $2000 was not in our budget, I tried to forget about it. Finally the week before our wedding (literally, Monday of the wedding) I did a bit more research on WeddingMix and decided to go for it! I sent an email out to certain people inviting them to play a role in our wedding and then also shared the App and Code with our guests the day of. Wow, were we blown away by the people that used it! They had so much fun and really did capture a great deal of the wedding and reception.
Although my uncle recorded most of the wedding and reception, the battery died before our big moments…thank gosh we went with WeddingMix BECAUSE he missed our First Look and our First Dance! My mom and another one of our closest friends just happened to be recording two of the most important moments and if we had not chosen to invest in WeddingMix, we would have completely missed having that footage.
It’s normal to go into a bit of a funk after the wedding is over…so much planning, lots of decoration arguments with family and such a great time. A video is what allows you to relive that day over and over again 🙂
Their first dance is awesome!
