Epic Wedding in Chicago, IL
Karen and her husband’s Chicago wedding video is a must see! This couple’s celebration was nothing short of an epic romance!
1. What part of your wedding planning are you most proud of?
I was most proud of how our vision all came together flawlessly. In the ceremony it was including our 5 nieces, 7 nephews and 2 daughters in the junior bridal party (they were so beautiful and handsome!!!). For the reception, my husband is a chef so ultimately the food had to be incredible, and we both come from the hotel industry and have seen and been to a lot of events in our life so we also knew the wedding had to be an experience that was unforgettable.
It was all about the little details – down to the spice used on the suckling pig (which was our favor) to the room set (an unconventional setting with open soft seating options). The arrival experience for our guests included a ride up a freight elevator with our signature cocktail and lemonade displayed. The room was decorated with eclectic elements from vintage to elegant. My husband wrote the menu and we found an amazing caterer that was able to give us exactly what we wanted.
We didn’t do a traditional sit down, we did food stations of our favorites: the Carolina BBQ station, 90 Miles (Cuban), and Eastern European (Brats!). However, I think the kids station was the most popular (who doesn’t love mac and cheese & tater tots!) But the best part was that we also included craft beer pairings at each station – thanks to our friends at Crafty! But wait there was more – the night didn’t end with dinner we made sure we had late night snacks, candy bar, sweet table and of course Food Trucks! We did a savory – empanadas and a sweet – doughnuts!
Needless to say our guests left happy and full. With about 50 kids at our wedding we also made sure to have entertaining elements besides an awesome DJ. We had a photo booth, an arcade (PacMan, Foosball, Golden Tee and Shuffle Board), a swing by the dance floor and a photo scavenger hunt. And for the adults we invited a cigar roller who appropriately was stationed at 90 miles. Every element was memorable and the best part is that the bride and groom enjoyed all their efforts in planning!
