Perfect Wedding in Baltimore, Maryland
Taylor and Justin’s perfect wedding was overflowing with personal touches and unique DIY projects! The couple truly put their hearts into personalizing this special day, and they absolutely succeeded! We are obsessed with every little thing about this wedding, and we promise you will be, too! Make sure to check it out, and don’t miss their Baltimore wedding video!
1. What part of your wedding planning are you most proud of?
I am most proud of all of the little personal touches we included on our big day. Justin and I are huge craft beer lovers so right away I knew we wanted to include craft beer. When we decided on July 9th, the weekend after 4th of July, having a “Red, White and Brew” themed wedding felt right. We did a lot of things DIY, like our escort cards, our favors (“Happily Ever After Hefeweizen” home-brew), the invitations, and we used growlers from our favorite breweries for our centerpieces. Everything felt really personal, and our florist did an amazing job tying our flowers into our theme.
I’m also really proud of my husband for all of his help! About two weeks before the wedding I started to panic a bit over getting everything done in time. My husband was my rock and stepped up to plate with the hot glue gun and paper cutter. I was really grateful for his help and proud of his enthusiasm for the wedding!
Finally, we are really proud of our ceremony. It was important to us to have a short and sweet, but at the same time very meaningful ceremony and I think we captured that feeling really well. We included two readings that we really loved and wrote our own vows. I think reading Justin my vows was my favorite part, though nothing really compares to the feeling I had when our pastor pronounced us husband and wife!
2. Where did you get married?
We got married at the Renaissance Baltimore Harborplace Hotel in Baltimore City, Maryland. Our venue was one of the few things we disagreed on in planning our big day, and while I don’t like to admit it, I’m so glad Justin convinced me to go with the Renaissance. The venue had beautiful floor to ceiling windows that looked out over the Inner Harbor and Fort McHenry so it made a beautiful backdrop for our ceremony, and stunning setting for our reception. It was also a blessing to have every bit of our wedding day in the same location. We got married in the front half of the Watertable Ballroom, hosted our cocktail hour in the Watertable Foyer, and then our wonderful coordinator and her team flipped the ceremony room for our reception.
3. Why was using WeddingMix appealing for your big day?
Originally, we weren’t going to have a wedding video because all of the quotes we received were way out of our price range ($3000+). As we got closer to the wedding day, however, I started to really worry that I would regret not having a wedding video to remember our day or to share with our friends and family. Enter WeddingMix! I think I first saw an ad on Facebook and knew it would be the perfect solution for us. Not only was WeddingMix affordable, but we felt that it would really capture the familiar and personal aspect of our wedding because our friends and family would be capturing the moments. Who better to record our big day than the people we love the most?
4. What special moments from your wedding do you want to remember forever?
I especially want to remember our ceremony. It was very personal since we put all the pieces together ourselves and personalized it for us. I also want to remember my husband’s performance! During our reception, my husband performed “Too Hard to Handle” by the Red Hot Chili Peppers. He was in a band in high school, but we didn’t meet until I was in college so I had no idea what a great performer he was! It was awesome! Also, we entered our reception doing the Running Man Challenge to “My Boo” by Ghost Town DJs which was pretty entertaining! Finally, our first dance was extremely special. We danced to Billy Joel’s “She’s Got a Way,” but our band alternated between their male and female singer to include “He’s Got a Way,” which was another really awesome personal touch!
5. How did WeddingMix help capture those moments?
WeddingMix made it really simple to capture the moments that were really important to us. My cousin, maid of honor, and sister-in-law were our main videographers and I am so grateful to them for taking on the responsibility (and anyone else who held the camera!)! WeddingMix made it easy to let people know what shots we wanted in our video so that they could be captured. If we didn’t use WeddingMix we definitely wouldn’t have captured Justin’s performance, for one thing, and I cannot wait to show that video to our kids one day! WeddingMix also felt very personal to me. Seeing friends and family behind the camera made the night a lot more fun.
6. Vendors
Thank you, thank you, thank you to all of our incredible vendors! We were more than pleased with every single one of them, and I can’t imagine our wedding day without the services they provided. Each and every one of them did a great job and really are experts at what they do!
